Countdown to IHI - call 12

A look back on a successful year – a word from our director

As 2025 draws to a close, the IHI Office is busy wrapping up grant agreements for a series of projects that will start in the new year. We’re also wrapping up a very successful year, with 3 calls launched, 15 projects started, and a wealth of exciting science published.

But publications are just the start; in IHI, first class research is translated into innovative health solutions. Building a solid regulatory strategy into projects is critical for this translation. Recently, a team from the European Medicines Agency and some of our projects shared advice and experiences on how to do this in a webinar. It’s a brilliant introduction to the resources available to projects and applicants – add the recording to your “what-to-watch-over-Xmas list”, it’s a top 2025 title!

Call 12 opens in January and the final call topic texts are now published. For those of you who are assembling a consortium, our IDEHRA project leaders share how they use sports to build commitment and a strong project identity – health research is a team sport and no matter how strong the science, outcomes are shaped by the people enjoying the ride.

Finally, a big thank you to everyone involved in IHI in 2025. IHI is a unique programme – a partnership where people collaborate across competing companies, academia, healthcare and civil society to shape Europe’s future health ecosystem. It is the work of the people in our projects, our member organisations, and in our contributing partners that makes this European programme unique, impactful and globally recognised. I wish you all a wonderful festive season and a restful break.
