It's time to start preparing for IHI call 12 – a word from our director

I am writing this as the team here is busily preparing for our Brokerage Event next week. The IHI programme is about taking on big challenges in bold collaborations – developing and delivering projects for important challenges that are too complex for individual organisations or even sectors to tackle alone. The IHI Brokerage Event is where we seek to foster these collaborations – bringing together people from universities, healthcare systems, pharma, medtech, and biotech, as well as patient organisations and public bodies. Registration to attend on site is closed, but the sessions will be broadcast online and the brokerage platform will remain open until the call deadline – do register below.

As usual, we published the draft topics for our next call on our website when we began consulting with our governance bodies. IHI call 12 will be an applicant-led call, organised around the IHI Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda and the new European Life Sciences Strategy – we are looking forward to see exciting proposals for important projects at a critical time for Europe. The drafts are published to give everyone good time to build a strong consortium and proposal; now is the time to start preparing.

Our project stories are a good source of inspiration. For example, the EHDEN project, which finished a year ago, continues the collaboration and this month we highlight their important work on drug shortages in Europe and worldwide. A good read, and a great illustration of public-private partnerships solving challenges too big for single institutions!

Improving the rates at which patients take their treatments properly
Over half of all patients don’t take their treatment properly. The B-COMPASS questionnaire will help doctors decide how to present information to suit the patient and boost adherence to treatment.
