Reflections on a busy year so far – a word from our director

The first half of the year was busy at IHI, launching three calls and a series of new projects. IHI call 9 was a pilot, setting out a new applicant-driven approach that welcomed innovative proposals for public-private collaborations within broad, open topics based on our strategic research and innovation agenda.

We were very pleased to see the strong interest in call 9 – showing the richness of ideas and the opportunities for collaborations between industry, public and civil society in health. The coming months will be no less busy as we are working with the consortia to launch the resulting projects.

IHI call 11 was launched a few weeks ago – if you missed any of our information sessions, they are all recorded and together with the guide for applicants will give you everything you need to build a strong application. There are lots of resources on our website, including the Data Sharing Playbook and advice on planning interactions with regulators. They are there to help.

Building successful collaborations between public research, industry and civil society organisations can be difficult. A good place to start is our brokerage event - mark 4-5 November in your diary and join us in Brussels to exchange ideas and build a network of potential partners.

A good source of inspiration for what our projects can achieve is our newly-released annual highlights brochure. Enjoyable and stylish, it is your perfect companion on the beach!

Patients have been involved in our work and projects since the early days of IMI1; involving patients as co-designers of health research strengthens the impact that project outcomes ultimately have.
