IHI’s transformative partnerships – a word from our director

IHI funds exciting projects with important outcomes – this month we meet ENKORE, which seeks to reduce the environmental burden of the healthcare sector through sustainable materials and sustainable-by-design approaches, and READI, which targets a better representation of the whole of European society in clinical trials.

The projects become truly transformative when you take them together and look at their combined impact on an area. In this newsletter we look at how our public-private partnerships are changing the approach to cancer and addressing liver disease – a silent epidemic that according to European Liver Patients' Association affects up to 200 million people in Europe.

We also take a deep dive into our projects on real-world data, digital health and AI – an area highlighted in the Draghi report as critical for European competitiveness and a long-standing focus of IMI and IHI. Our projects bring together Europe’s leading experts – in academia and industry - and the report summarises what has been done and what needs to be done for Europe to take a global lead in health data.

As always, we publish the early drafts of our upcoming call topics when they are sent for consultation to our governance groups. Particularly exciting in IHI call 11 is the close partnerships we are forming with several private and philanthropic funders. We will talk more about these partnerships in the lead up to the calls. Until then, do have a look at the upcoming topics; preparing early and building bold collaborations are key to successful proposals in our competitive programme.
