Turning research outcomes into innovative solutions – a word from our director

As summer is approaching, we are gearing up to launch IHI call 13 – the draft topics are already available on the IHI website and will be updated in early June following the consultations with Member States and advisory groups. Registration is now open for the IHI Call Days - a must-attend if you’re thinking of applying!

Our portfolio covers the whole spectrum of health innovation, from translational research through to healthcare implementation and manufacturing. What ties our portfolio together is transformation, the ambition to take on challenges that cannot be tackled by any organisation – or indeed sector – alone, and turn research outcomes into innovative solutions. The projects in this month’s newsletter are great examples: developing patient-centric outcome measures, identifying patient stratification biomarkers, or deploying point-of-care testing protocols are all areas where the translation of high-impact research into applicable solutions requires industry, healthcare and public bodies.

But scaling these innovations towards long-term impact is hard – to support our projects, we have the Field Manual for Scaling Innovation. The field manual provides a structured framework for developing exploitation plans, value propositions and business cases. It comes with training – make sure you sign up for the masterclass by the team that developed the manual!
