Building long-term impact starts from day one – a word from our director
IHI Call 13 will be launched in a few days. As always we try to address both health innovation –understanding immune responses in age-related illness – and bottlenecks to health innovation – this time reducing animal use in medicines development and launching a network of European biotech incubators to help high-potential start-ups. The IHI Call Days will provide you with vital information for preparing your proposal – sign up now.
One of the most important – and often most difficult – parts of an IHI project is to plan for long-term impact. A few years ago IHI and industry partners developed the Field Manual for Scaling Innovation and we recently did a re-run of the masterclass. Watch the replay – this is a great resource for proposal and project planning.
This month we feature several stories on securing and scaling project impact: ARDAT developed evidence to support the regulatory assessment of ATMPs, helping to launch clinical trials, while BigPicture and VICT3R have established a formal collaboration that allows the exploitation of safety pathology data to inform the development of digital twins for 3Rs. Finally, AIMS-2-Trials have established a community-centred, long-term resource for ethically sharing data for autism research.
What ties these examples together is partnerships –the need to go beyond traditional research organisations to drive long-term impact and benefit. Planning for lasting impact is key: does your proposal have partners with the right skills, capacities and track-records for success beyond the project lifetime?
